Our graduate roles offer an exciting opportunity to join a growing, fast paced organisation. We offer summer and one year placements for undergraduates seeking work-based development as part of their studies. We also have permanent roles for graduates seeking career development and professional advancement.
Graduate development roles
The aim of the graduate scheme is to enable trainees to gain knowledge of a variety of business areas, before selecting a specific department to work in.
During the scheme you'll complete personal development courses, and have a leadership mentor. You may also complete some professional qualifications if they're relevant to the role.
By the end of the scheme you'll be on track to apply for a permanent position within the business. You'll also become an ambassador for Hastings Direct and get involved with external community events.
Summer placement roles
Some areas of the business offer summer placement roles that will give you valuable work experience and the opportunity to apply your studies to real life business challenges.
Commercial pricing: We're looking for individuals who are strong in analytics, mathematics or statistics. You'll have knowledge of analytical modelling tools such as SAS and R and demonstrate good skills with quantitative and analytical concepts. See more detail about the role and apply here.
Actuarial roles: Our actuarial team is looking for summer placement students to complete a number of projects that will involve using advanced data bases and demonstrating exceptional data manipulation skills. One year placements
In some parts of the business weâ€™re able to offer one year placements (minimum of 10 months) for undergraduates looking for a work experience placement as part of their studies.
Commercial: whether itâ€™s working with our insurer partners, or looking at new products and business initiatives; commercial team members are confident team players, comfortable with presenting, who have good analytical skills and are great number crunchers.
Actuarial: underwriting requires a specialist skill set and our placement roles need undergraduates who have practical rounded skills in mathematics, analytics or statistics along with strong communication and attention to detail.
Technical claims: our technical claims team has opportunities for law undergraduates to work in a commercial business sector applying their skills to real business challenges. You'll develop your understanding of general insurance principles such as contract law and material fact.
